Q: Facility Planning Steering Cemndttee: Frequently Asked Questlens When and where will the steering committee meet? The dates are outlined on the attached Facility Planning timeline. All meetings of the steering committee will be held at the Skills & Technology Center What is the expected time commitment? The time commitment is expected to be 20 hours over a 5-month period. Most steering committee meetings are scheduled on Thursday evenings from 6:00-8:00 pm. How were members selected to participate? A list of community organizations holding significant and unique perspectives in our community was compiled. Those organizations were asked to select the individuals to represent them. What is the purpose of the steering committee? The steedng committee will be responsible for reviewing demographic and facility data, examining future trends that will impact educational facilities, engaging the community in dialogue regarding future direction, formulate options for addressing the school facility needs and presenting recommendations to the Fargo Board of Education regarding the need for construction, renovation and/or other disposition of school facilities. Do I need to attend EVERY meeting? The agenda of each meeting will assume you understand the information presented at the previous meeting. While attendance at each meeting is expected, there are always unexpected conflicts that will occur. Are the steering committee meetings public? The meetings are held in public, the public does not participate in the meetings of the steering committee. The meetings called Community Dialogues are those designed for public involvement. Are there any residency requirements of committee members? In general, they should be taxpayers of Fargo Public School Distdct Number One. While some organizations (neighbourhood associations, Downtown Community Partnership etc.) are geographic specific, most are not.
