<br />.- <br /> <br />PERSONNEL OVERVIEW COMMITTEE <br />DECEMBER 10, 2001 <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />MEETING TO ORDER <br />A meeting of the Personnel Overview Committee was called to order by County Commission <br />Chairman John Meyer at 10:00 AM in the Commission Room, Cass County Courthouse. The <br />following members were present: John Meyer, Scott Wagner, Robyn Sorum, Alon Wieland, <br />Keith Berndt, Birch Burdick, Don Rudnick, Michael Montplaisir, Bonnie Johnson, Kathy <br />Ziegelmann, Diane Miller, Greg McDonald and Char Aberle. The following members were <br />absent: Donna Schneider and Kathy Hogan. <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />INFORMATION SERVICES GIS COORDINATOR, Reauest to Dav above minimum <br />Keith Berndt and Michael Montplaisir provided background information to the group on the <br />advertisement and recruitment process to fill the new GIS Coordinator position approved by <br />the County Commission. <br /> <br />A committee consisting of Bob Holmbeck, Glenn Ellingsberg, Joel Quanbeck, Mike Montplaisir, <br />Keith Berndt and Brad Anderson from the City of Fargo GIS Department interviewed four <br />candidates after receiving 12 applications for the position. The top candidate was selected <br />based upon having the appropriate education credentials and eight years of experience in GIS <br />mapping and database work. With the applicant's exceptional education and experience, as <br />well as documented recruiting difficulties, Mr. Berndt said the committee is recommending the <br />annual salary be established at $42,766, which is step 5 on the C44 pay grade. <br /> <br />r- <br /> <br />The county policy which calls for a meeting of the Personnel Overview Committee to discuss <br />this matter of hiring above the minimum was previously mentioned by Bonnie Johnson. Birch <br />Burdick noted that the Board of County Commissioners must approve the request. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Rudnick seconded to recommend to the County <br />Commission that the top candidate for the new GIS Coordinator position in <br />the Information Services Department be hired at a beginning annual salary <br />of $42,766, which is Step 5 in the C44 pay grade. The motion carried on roll <br />call vote with all members voting "Aye." <br /> <br />3.
