<br />Commission Minutes--November 5, 2001 2373 <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT HEADS--PLEASE POST IN A CONSPICUOUS PLACE FOR STAFF TO READ <br /> <br />.- <br /> <br />REGULAR MEETING OF CASS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br />NOVEMBER 5, 2001 <br /> <br />1. MEETING TO ORDER <br />Chairman John Meyer called the meeting to order at 3:30 PM with four members present as <br />follows: Donna Schneider, Scott Wagner, Robyn Sorum and John Meyer. Commissioner Alon <br />Wieland was absent. <br /> <br />2. MINUTES APPROVED <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mrs. Schneider moved and Mr. Wagner seconded that the minutes of <br />the last regular meeting held October 15, 2001, and the minutes of the <br />special meeting held October 26, 2001, be approved as written. <br />Motion carried. <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />AGENDA, Order aooroved <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wagner moved and Mrs. Schneider seconded to approve the order <br />ofthe agenda with the following additions: 1) letter of condolence to <br />Commissioner Alon Wieland and his wife, Merle, on the death of her <br />mother; and 2) expenditure of GIS (Geographic Information Systems) <br />funds for travel expenses associated with interviewing two out.of- <br />state applicants. Motion carried. <br /> <br />/""' <br /> <br />4. RESOLUTION #2001-24, National Association of Counties resolution aaainst terrorism <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mrs. Schneider moved and Mr. Wagner seconded to authorize the <br />chairman to sign Resolution #2001-24 againstterrorism, as suggested <br />by the National Association of Counties, as follows: On roll call vote, <br />the motion carried unanimously. <br /> <br />RESOLUTION #2001-24 <br />VIGILANT, BUT NOT VIGILANTES <br />WHEREAS, America continues to mourn the incomprehensible loss that the nation suffered on <br />September 11th, butwe must be sure notto let our anger, fear and sorrow surface <br />as violence; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, America, as a nation, must strive to provide a safe and welcoming environment <br />for all of its citizens, including the millions of Arab and Muslim Americans who are <br />part of America's national community; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, citizens must show patriotism and compassion by accepting all fellow Americans, <br />/""' and as a nation stand together, united against terrorism; and <br /> <br />WHEREAS, counties, keeping with the long-held tradition of caring for America, must continue <br />to pray for the victims, provide aid and compassion to the survivors, the families <br />of the victims, the brave relief workers, their families and all who have been <br />
