The <br />Department of Transportation has indicated that they would provide <br />$200,000 toward the project. However, the Department would strongly <br />prefer that the County add the truck route to the County Federal Highway <br />System (FAS). <br /> <br />If the road is added to the Federal Aid System, it will be a County highway <br />and the County will have overall accountability for the road. This means <br />maintaining it to all of the applicable design and maintenance standards. <br />The City of Kindred officials have suggested that they would be agreeable <br />to all maintenance of the road. <br /> <br />I will be available to provide more information and answer any questions <br />that Commission has on this matter. <br /> <br />SUGGESTED MOTION: <br /> <br />Option I: Direct County Engineer to take appropriate steps to add the <br />Kindred Truck Route to County Federal Aid System and prepare a <br />maintenance contract with the City of Kindred for maintenance of the Road. <br /> <br />Option 2: Decline request to add Kindred Truck Route to County Federal <br />Aid System. <br /> <br />J:\Admin-Eng\Commission Corrsp\2005 Commission Correspondence\Agenda Memo Kindred Truck route <br />memo. doc <br />
