The following members
were present: John Meyer, Robyn Sorum, Alon Wieland, Keith Berndt, Kathy Hogan, Kathy
Ziegelmann, Birch Burdick, Don Rudnick, Michael Montplaisir, Bonnie Johnson, Char Aberle and Diane
Miller. Scott Wagner arrived later in the meeting. The following members were absent: Donna
Schneider and Greg McDonald. Also present was Chief Deputy Jim Thoreson, Sheriff's Department.

2.

COMPENSATORY TIME, Number of accrued hours reduced: holidav comp time to be used
within the next pav period
Mrs. Johnson reviewed the history of this item and said at the committee meeting two weeks ago,
members decided to review a list showing compensatory time earned and used by each department.

Mr. Rudnick said problems are created in his department when employees bank their comp hours
because he then has to find staff to fill in for them when they use their comp time. He does not have a
problem if a staff member works a holiday and then takes the next day off. He is also concerned how
comp time will impact the new jail.

The committee discussed if reducing the number of comp hours that are accrued would be helpful for
the Sheriff's Department. The Sheriff said it would be helpful even if the banked hours would be cut in
half. Mr. Thoreson suggested that holiday comp time that is accrued be used within the next pay
period or 28-day cycle that the Sheriff's Department uses.
MOTION, passed
Mr. Montplaisir moved and Mr. Wagner seconded to amend the personnel
policy regarding compensatory time accrual from 40 hours to 12 hours.
Discussion: Mr. Burdick said this change may have a budgetary impact
and Mr. Montplaisir felt the change would be minor. The committee agreed
that the change would become effective January 1, 2002. Motion carried
unanimously.

MOTION, passed
Mr. Wieland moved and Mr. Rudnick seconded that holiday compensatory
time be used within the next pay period. Discussion: Mr. Burdick wanted
to clarify that the time may be used up until the end of the next pay period.
Motion carried unanimously.

Mrs. Johnson said the revisions will be made to the personnel policy manual, be posted for the amount
of time required and then be forwarded to the County Commission for approval.

3. ADJOURNMENT
MOTION, passed
On motion by Mrs. Johnson and seconded by Mr. Montplaisir, the meeting
was adjourned about 1 :40 PM.

Minutes prepared by Heather Worden, Administrative Secretary
