<br />ROTATIONAL DEPARTMENT MEETING <br />MAY 21,2001..2:35 PM <br /> <br />-, <br /> <br />MEETING TO ORDER <br />Chairman John Meyer called the Rotational Group "A" meeting to order with commissioners <br />present as follows: Alon Wieland, Robyn Sorum, Scott Wagner and John Meyer. Donna <br />Schneider was absent. Also present were Deanna Kensrud, Frank Klein, Bob Holmbeck, <br />Michael Montplaisir and Charlotte Sandvik. Carol Lewis was absent. <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES <br />Tax Director <br />. Mr. Klein said there will be a 7% increase on all valuations in the county and <br />3 Yo % increase on farmland. <br /> <br />. He said the County Board of Equalization will meet on June 4th. <br /> <br />Information Services <br />. Mr. Holmbeck discussed numerous projects his staff has been working on the last few <br />months. <br /> <br />. He will soon arrange for a demo on the Commission automation system. This involves <br />the software and laptop computers for each Commissioner. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />He continues to work on the GIS system with the City of Fargo and the County Auditor's <br />Office. <br /> <br />,-- <br /> <br />. Mr. Wagner asked about the status on converting military discharges onto the computer <br />for Veterans Service. Mr. Holmbeck said originally the process was to scan the record <br />into the system, however, they were not integrating correctly. He said the current military <br />discharges are scanned into the computer system; however, he needs to find a better <br />way to automate old military discharges. <br /> <br />Reaister of Deeds <br />. Mrs. Kensrud said her office completed the annual research for the five-year tax sale <br />handled by the Auditor's Office. <br /> <br />. She said due to the lower interest rates, her office has seen an increase in documents <br />being recorded, especially refinancing. <br /> <br />. She has hired two new employees and is in the process of cross-training other <br />employees. <br /> <br />. She said her office's name will change to County Recorder effective August 1st. <br /> <br />r-- <br /> <br />Treasurer <br />. Ms. Sandvik discussed the ez-gov website and said phone calls for tax information have <br />decreased by about 60%. <br /> <br />. She said since her office took on the new duties, 545 death certificates and 788 birth <br />certificates have been filed; 267 marriage licenses have been issued; and her office has <br />performed 74 wedding ceremonies. <br />
