<br />~ <br /> <br />SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT ROTATIONAL MEETING <br />APRIL16, 2001--2:15 PM <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />MEETING TO ORDER <br />The Sheriffs Department Rotational Meeting was called to order with the <br />following commissioners present: John Meyer, Alon Wieland, Scott Wagner, <br />Donna Schneider and Robyn Sorum. Also present were Captain Glenn <br />Ellingsberg and Lieutenant Mike Argall. <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES <br />. Mr. Ellingsberg gave a flood update and said river levels are falling. He <br />commended Emergency Manager Greg McDonald for his work during the <br />flood. He said the county has received several calls from people with <br />septic and well water questions, which are being referred to Fargo Cass <br />Public Health. He said figures are being gathered on financial losses and <br />he estimates $1.2 million in damages to the county. <br /> <br />. Mr. Ellingsberg said the department is in the process of installing new <br />radios in squad cars and so far, six squad cars have the new radios. <br /> <br />. <br /> <br />Mr. Ellingsberg said the jail transition team is currently located on the <br />second floor of the Courthouse and Jim Thoreson is now working as the <br />jail administrator. <br /> <br />- <br /> <br />. Mr. Argall discussed the adopt-a-community program. He said feedback <br />has been received from the communities who suggested the county adopt <br />vehicle parking and junk car ordinances. <br /> <br />. Mr. Argall said he will be an instructor on seat belt law, which encourages <br />people to wear their seat belts. He will conduct a class in Fargo and a <br />class in Bismarck, and the information will be taken and taught to local <br />police departments. <br /> <br />. Mr. Ellingsberg said their department will ask the commission for <br />permission to retain a few of the older squad cars to be used by the <br />deputies in Mapleton and Casselton. Their department also has a need <br />for an unmarked vehicle. <br /> <br />7.
