~ SHERIFF'S DEPARTMENT ROTATIONAL MEETING APRIL16, 2001--2:15 PM 1. MEETING TO ORDER The Sheriffs Department Rotational Meeting was called to order with the following commissioners present: John Meyer, Alon Wieland, Scott Wagner, Donna Schneider and Robyn Sorum. Also present were Captain Glenn Ellingsberg and Lieutenant Mike Argall. 2. DEPARTMENT ACTIVITIES . Mr. Ellingsberg gave a flood update and said river levels are falling. He commended Emergency Manager Greg McDonald for his work during the flood. He said the county has received several calls from people with septic and well water questions, which are being referred to Fargo Cass Public Health. He said figures are being gathered on financial losses and he estimates $1.2 million in damages to the county. . Mr. Ellingsberg said the department is in the process of installing new radios in squad cars and so far, six squad cars have the new radios. . Mr. Ellingsberg said the jail transition team is currently located on the second floor of the Courthouse and Jim Thoreson is now working as the jail administrator. - . Mr. Argall discussed the adopt-a-community program. He said feedback has been received from the communities who suggested the county adopt vehicle parking and junk car ordinances. . Mr. Argall said he will be an instructor on seat belt law, which encourages people to wear their seat belts. He will conduct a class in Fargo and a class in Bismarck, and the information will be taken and taught to local police departments. . Mr. Ellingsberg said their department will ask the commission for permission to retain a few of the older squad cars to be used by the deputies in Mapleton and Casselton. Their department also has a need for an unmarked vehicle. 7. ADJOURNMENT There being no further business, the meeting was adjourned at 3:00 PM.
