---

Commission Minutes--February 5, 2001 2246

features needed by the department, such as the ability to accept ledger-sized military
discharge documents for reduction.
MOTION, passed
Mr. Wieland moved and Mrs. Sorum seconded to approve the
purchase of a copier and related maintenance agreement in
the amount of $5,159.00, as requested by Jim Brent, Veterans
Service Officer, to be paid from existing money in the 2001
budget. Discussion: Commissioner Schneider suggested
delaying the copy machine purchase until Mr. Brent can
include the funds in his budget to be prepared this summer
since the department is able to use a large copy machine in
Social Services. Mr. Wagner said the Information Services
Director is requesting bids on scanning the military
discharges, which would eliminate the need for copying the
documents. Mr. Brent said the volume of work in his
department dictates the need for a copy machine with more
features than the current model. On roll call vote, the motion
carried with three members voting "Aye", Mr. Wagner and Mrs.
Schneider opposing.

17. The area scheduled for air duct cleaning from the 2001 budget is the
north wing, and work on the south wing will be budgeted in 2002.

Corey Whitchurch, operator of the County Seat Cafe in the lower level of the
Courthouse south wing, is requesting permission to reduce the number of hours of
operation, mainly because business is slow in the afternoon and it is difficult to show
a profit from 2:00-4:00 PM.
