<br />Weed Control Progress Report January 2, 2018 <br /> <br />Period from Dec 11, 21017 to Jan 2, 2018 submitted by Stan Wolf <br /> <br />New Business: <br /> <br />Election of Officers: The chair and vice chair officers are elected for a one-year <br />term; election of officers is required at the start of the year. <br /> <br />Action: Hold election of officers. <br /> <br />NDWAN: The North Dakota agricultural Weather Network operates remote <br />weather monitoring stations and provides up to the minute weather conditions via <br />web connection. The contract sprayers and Weed Control staff utilize the stations <br />within Cass County to determine weather conditions before and during spraying <br />operations. In previous years the Weed Board has granted $500 to NDWAN to <br />help cover the costs of operating the remote weather stations. <br /> <br />Proposed Motion: Approve a $500 sponsorship grant to NDWAN in Cass <br />County. <br /> <br />Houndstongue Questionnaire: The North Dakota Department of Agriculture <br />sent out a questionnaire seeking opinions regarding Houndstongue. All county <br />and city weed boards received the questionnaire wanting to know if <br />Houndstongue is present in their district and how they are responding to the <br />weed. The ND Weed Control Association has a resolution up for a vote to have <br />the NDDA add Houndstongue to the state noxious weed list. Ten counties <br />currently have Houndstongue on their county weed lists. <br /> <br />Action: Review questionnaire. <br /> <br />One-Ton Pickup truck: Bids were solicited from three local dealerships, Ford, <br />GMC, and Dodge Ram, for a one-ton pickup truck similarly equipped to the North <br />Dakota state bid specifications. <br /> <br />Action: Review bids and select pickup truck and truck bed to order. <br /> <br />Monthly Report <br /> <br />Worked on finalizing township spray maps and gravel pit scouting in 2018. <br />Ordered weed identification books for door prizes at ND Winter Show and <br />assisted NDWCA in conference presentations. Attended Sheriff’s office Critical <br />Incident Training - Active Shooter Response. <br /> <br /> <br />
