INVESTIGATION OF ABATEMENT APPLICATION

ABATEMENT No. 4270

Following is a report on the investigation of the abatement application of: Victor & Donette Port

Cass County Board of Commissioners and State Tax Commissioner:

The applicants are asking that their 2004 residential lot valuation be reduced from $40,500 to
$30,000. The property also has a residential structure assessment of$195,400, making a total
assessment of$225,400. They state that they paid $18,000 for the lot on 1-31-1999. They also
state that larger lots in their development are assessed less than their lot.

The Stanley Twp Board recommended approval of the abatement application.

I did inspect the property and visited with the property owners. I also reviewed the lot
assessments in the subdivision. Most of the lots are now improved with newer residential
structures. It appears that the lot assessments are not consistent throughout the subdivision.
Considering that the subdivision is now established, it's my recommendation that the township
should reassess the lots in the entire subdivision.

SUGGESTED MOTION: "I move that Abatement No. 4270 be approved as recommended
by Stanley Twp. and the Director of Equalization."

Dated this 3rd day of March, 2005.

c;f~ J~

Frank Klein
Director of Tax Equalization

j :\tax\wplabate
