<br />Commission Minutes--February 7,2005 2859 <br /> <br />19. NACO CONFERENCE; MEETING UPDATES; COURT FACILITIES IMPROVEMENTS; <br />JAIL ARCHITECT; NIMS TRAINING, Committee reports <br />Mrs. Sorum reminded commissioners they should register soon if they plan to attend the <br />National Association of Counties annual conference to be held July 15-19, 2005, in <br />Honolulu, Hawaii. <br /> <br />Mr. Wagner reported the Orchard Glen/Forest River Bow Hunting Subcommittee held a <br />public input meeting last week, and the committee will meet again to digest that information <br />and make recommendations back to the board at a March meeting. <br /> <br />Mr. Wagner also reported that Cass County was awarded grant funds in the amount of <br />$46,750 from the State Court Facilities Improvement Committee, which will be used toward <br />a $200,000 multi-year project for new carpet and pant in the courthouse areas utilized by <br />the District Court Judges and staff, as well as the Clerk of Court office areas. <br /> <br />Bonnie Johnson, County Coordinator, met with Foss Associates and will bring back contract <br />information on jail pod expansion at a future commission meeting. <br /> <br />National Incident Management System (NIMS) training for county officials is tentatively set <br />in Cass County for April 18, 2005, in the Commission Room, according to Mrs. Johnson. <br /> <br />20. CORRESPONDENCE, Received and filed <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mrs. Sorum moved and Mr. Bennett seconded to receive and file <br />correspondence outlined by the secretary as follows: Motion carried. <br /> <br />letter from Fargo Mayor Bruce Furness indicating their representative on the County <br />Planning Commission, Linda Coates, is unable to attend monthly meetings for the next <br />six months; and the Fargo City Commission is requesting the temporary assignment of <br />City Commissioner Thomas Lane; <br />request for comments to SRF Consulting Group, Inc. on the 1 ih Avenue North <br />improvement project in Fargo; <br />notice of Fargo Planning Commission public hearing to be held at 9:00 AM on February <br />9, 2005, in the Fargo City Commission Chambers on a zoning change from General <br />Commercial to Downtown Mixed Use on Lots 1-12, Block 18 and Lots 1-6 and Lots 9-12, <br />Block 17, Original Townsite Addition; <br />letter from Richard Henne, Fargo, enclosing a recent newspaper article regarding the <br />State's property tax situation and the exemption of farm re$idential dwellings. <br /> <br />21.
