Weed Control Progress Report October 2, 2017 <br /> Period from Sept 11 to Oct 2, 2017 submitted by Stan Wolf <br /> <br />Monthly Report <br /> Spray Contractors: J&J spraying started spraying the south half of Cass County on September 16. They had up to three trucks spraying and have sprayed 3339 acres to date. <br />They have covered all state and county roads and are now working on township roads. <br />Walker has continued to spray with one truck covering township roads. The heavy rain that fell on September 19 did not hamper spray operations in the south half of the county. The north half had water running in the ditches and spray operations have not resumed. <br />Total acres and costs to date are as follows: <br /> Acres Cost J&J 3339 $121,506 Walker 3210 $116,844 <br /> Total 6549 $238,350 <br /> Remaining in budget $ 86,649 <br />North Dakota Department of Agriculture Grant: Cass County Weed Board is <br />elegible for a $5000.00 Targeted Assistance Grant. The monies can used for various noxious weed control needs including equipment. An application for $5000.00 will be submitted for the purchase of the new one-ton pickup. <br />Weed Control projects completed: Rain and wind has stopped spraying activities for a <br />number of days. Spraying operations included: Sprayed trees in the Swan Creek Diversion at Casselton. <br />Sprayed Red River Inlet area south of Horace for Canada thistle. <br /> Sprayed Sheyenne Diversion starting at Horace for Canada thistle with Milestone.
