<br />Cass County Historic Population <br /> <br />To accurately envision the future growth and development ofCass County it is beneficial <br />to understand the historical growth patterns of the county. Figure 2.6 displays the <br />county's population growth over the past century. Table 2.4 displays the percent change <br />between the decennial censuses. The county achieved strong growth at the beginning of <br />the 20th century, averaging 19.4% growth rate for the first 30 years ofthe century. <br />Growth then slowed during the middle part ofthe century until the last third which <br />averaged 18.7% growth (U.S. Census Bureau Decennial Censuses). Unlike North Dakota <br />and the majority of the surrounding counties, Cass County has been able to maintain <br />strong positive growth over the last century. This making the county very atypical of the <br />state in growth and even the entire U.S. which averaged around 13% growth in the 2000 <br />census.
