<br />CASS COUNTY HIGHWAY WEIGHT DISCUSSION <br /> <br />Current practices on Cass County Highways: <br />80,000 lbs gross vehicle weight on all county highways <br />Permits given for non-divisible loads such as construction equipment <br />No charge for permits <br />Funds from overload fines go to the State <br />Majority of county highways posted for further restrictions during spring conditions <br /> <br />Questions to be considered and options: <br /> <br />I. 80,000 lb. Gross vehicle weight: <br /> <br />Options: <br />· No change from current policy <br />· Issuance of permits to allow higher divisible loads <br />· Change policy and sign highways to allow higher gross vehicle weights <br /> <br />2. Oversized permits: <br />Options: <br />· No change - continue to issue free permits <br />· Charge for all permits <br />· Charge for some permits such as if vehicle has axel weights over allowable <br /> <br />3. Collection of overload fines: <br />Options: <br />· No change - State continue to receive revenue from fines <br />· Adopt ordinance to allow County to collect fines <br /> <br />4. Ten percent overload allowances: <br />Options: <br />· No change - continue to require all haulers to comply with legal maximums <br />· Adopt 10 percent policy -10 percent "harvest" overload allowance <br />- 10 percent winter allowance <br />
