The Energy and
Environmental Research Center out of UND has spearheaded the effort.
The objective of the group is to coordinate the storm water activities
mandated to each political subdivision by Phase II of the Clean Water Act.

In the past the EERC has successfully applied for and received EP A grant
funding for most of these efforts. The EERC is asking for a letter of
support for its grant application to continue to receive EP A funding in the
future.

Each political subdivision is required to pay a total of $1 ,000 per year to
participate in the Regional Storm Water Coordination program. I believe
Cass County receives very good value for the $1,000 annual cost in that it
allows us to take advantage of the grant funding that the EERC receives.

SUGGESTED MOTION: Authorize Chair to sign letter of support for the
Energy and Environmental Research Center's Regional Storm Water
Education and Outreach Program initiatives.

Kb/kb

J:\Admin-Eng\Commission Corrsp\2004 Correspondènce\Consent Agenda 64th Av property purchase 12 JOO4.doc
