The failure is partially on County owned property and extends onto a private lot. The failure is encroaching upon an existing home. The failure has continued to expand in recent months and will likely threaten the existing home if not repaired. I developed a repair plan based on recommendations from a soils consultant. As of the time of this writing we are soliciting a contractor quote for the work. I expect to have the quote prior to the meeting. I expect it will be in the $50,000 to $70,000 range to complete the repairs. The recommended repairs consist of a combination of sheet piling, re-shaping of the bank and boulders. I will be able to provide additional information and answer questions prior to or during the meeting. SUGGESTED MOTION: Approve contract and authorize use of emergency funds to repair the embankment failure in the Orchard Glen Subdivision adjacent to Cass County flood buyout lots.
