CASS COUNTY <br /> GOVERNMENT <br /> MAIM <br /> Cass County <br /> MEMO <br /> Department Heads <br /> TO: Cass County Commissioners <br /> Keith Berndt <br /> Administrator t I� <br /> FROM: Frank Klein <br /> Michael Montplaisir Department Head Chairman <br /> Auditor <br /> DATE: May 28, 2014 <br /> Charlotte Sandvik <br /> Treasurer <br /> SUBJECT: COLA Recommendation for 2015 Budget <br /> Frank Klein <br /> Tax Director <br /> Jewel Spies Cost of Living Adjustment <br /> Recorder Each year county department heads review U.S. Department of Labor <br /> consumer price index (CPI) data and recommend a cost of living adjustment <br /> Birch Burdick (COLA) for budgeting purposes. <br /> State's Attorney <br /> Jason Benson Department heads met today to review the most current CPI data for all <br /> Highway Engineer urban consumers in the Midwest region for communities with populations <br /> of 50,000 to 1,500,000. The relevant information is included on Table 4 <br /> Paul Laney (CPI-U) of the report and based on that report, department heads <br /> Sheriff recommend a 2% COLA increase to the Cass County salary scale for 2015. <br /> Terry Schmaltz <br /> Info Technology Director Retirement <br /> The State Legislature did not pass legislation to increase contributions made <br /> John Kringler by governmental entities for 2015; therefore, no increase is needed for next <br /> Extension Agent year. If you recall, the North Dakota Public Employees Retirement System <br /> Dave Rogness (NDPERS) suffered market losses beginning in 2008, and in an effort to help <br /> Emergency Manager the state retirement system, the state legislature had passed a law to <br /> increase the contributions made by governmental entities by 2% for 2012- <br /> Launette Figliuzzi 2014. <br /> Veteran's Service Officer <br /> Chip Ammerman SUGGESTED MOTION: Move that the county authorize the use of a 2% <br /> Social Services Director COLA salary scale adjustment for 2015 budget development purposes. <br /> Stanley Wolf <br /> Weed Control Director <br /> P.O.Box 2806 <br /> 2119th Street South <br /> Fargo ND 58108-2806 <br />
