Flood Sales Tax Committee—May 5, 2014 2 <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mr. Berndt moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded to approve the <br /> following 2014 flood sales tax projects: Mapleton Levee <br /> Recertification $445,825 plus alternate 1 for $97,500; Pontiac <br /> Township Improvement District $500,000; Upper Maple River <br /> Dam for $706,000; Lake Bertha Flood Water Detention for <br /> $242,500; and Detention Project Development for $143,325. <br /> Discussion: Mr. Vanyo said the sales tax funds are a result of <br /> a county wide vote and the portion committed for flood <br /> protection is being used for projects across Cass County. Mr. <br /> Pawluk said there is a need for flood protection across the <br /> county. Mr. Olson said a good message has been sent to <br /> residents in all areas of the county because the funds are <br /> being used for projects that span the entire county and <br /> beyond. Mr. Pawluk said Cass County is continuing to fund <br /> projects wherever possible. On roll call vote, the motion <br /> carried unanimously. <br /> 6. NEXT MEETING <br /> A meeting will be set for a later date. <br /> 7.
