CASS COUNTY RECEIVED <br /> GOVERNMENT APR 9 2014 <br /> MEMORANDUM APR <br /> CAN COUNTY COMMISSION <br /> To: Cass County Board of Commissioners <br /> Vector Control From: Ben Prather, Cass County Vector Control air <br /> Board <br /> Date: Tuesday, April 29, 2014 <br /> Dennis Walaker <br /> Clay Whittlesey Subject: Consent Agenda Item for the May 5th, 2014 Meeting <br /> Keith Berndt <br /> Ben Prather <br /> Director The 2014 Vector Control budget includes funds for the purchase of <br /> an Ultra-Low-Volume truck mounted sprayer as well as a piece of <br /> equipment to calibrate our current inventory of over 20 sprayers. <br /> The sprayer is a replacement for a sprayer that became no longer <br /> functional last year. <br /> The calibration equipment is new and is used to measure pesticide <br /> droplet size as they leave the nozzle of the sprayer. By law we are <br /> required to calibrate our ULV sprayers for specific pesticides on an <br /> annual basis. In past years we have relied on pesticide vendors to <br /> provide this service in the spring, consequentially "locking" us into <br /> one or two products per year. <br /> The purchase of the DC IV will allow Vector Control increased <br /> flexibility in product selection for truck mounted ULV as well as <br /> enable us to calibrate equipment in optimum conditions rather than <br /> an arbitrarily scheduled date. <br /> SUGGESTED MOTION: <br /> Authorize Chairman to approve the purchase orders for a Guardian <br /> ULV from ADAPCO and a DC IV from. <br /> 1201 Main Avenue West <br /> West Fargo,North Dakota <br /> 58078-1301 <br /> 701-298-2382 <br /> Fax: 701-298-2395 <br />
