The Award was presented to Cass County & the City of Fargo
for collaboration in GIS projects. The awards were presented to user sites
around the world in recognition of their outstanding work in the GIS field. We
were selected to receive this prize from over 100,000 user sites worldwide
which is quite an honor.

The conference was attended by more than 12,000 GIS professional
from around the world and was an excellent opportunity to learn about new
technologies and collaborate with other GIS users. I was able to attend an all
day pre-conference seminar on developing address management systems
using GIS solutions. This was an excellent seminar with many useful
resources where a number of speakers presented their GIS solutions to
common addressing problems in various organizations. This was a good time
to learn about best practices.

Over 300 technical workshops were available during the week on ESRI
software and more than 1,000 user presentations on challenges and
successes. The exhibit pavilion provided the opportunity to talk with
hundreds of vendors and solution providers about project objectives. The
ESRI showcase consisted of representatives from software companies who
offered advice on technical issues & planning.

Overall this is an excellent conference that provides the opportunity to
talk to peers in similar organizations who all face similar issues in GIS
implementation.

Kay Anderson
