<br />Commission Minutes--August 19, 2004 2781 <br /> <br />Mr. Montplaisir suggested Job Development and Veterans Service be combined into the <br />General Fund so all reserves are in one fund. He said the Emergency Fund has a <br />$400,000 balance and feels the 1f.4 mill levy could be eliminated for next year. He received <br />updated health insurance information yesterday. Health insurance rates will increase <br />between 8-10%, not 12% as he projected. He said the commission could approve the <br />preliminary budget at 65 mills and hold additional budget hearings in September to <br />discuss possible cuts. <br />MOTION, passed <br />Mr. Wagner moved and Mr. Meyer seconded to set the preliminary budget at <br />65 mills; combine the Veterans Service and Job Development funds into the <br />General Fund; eliminate the % mill for the Emergency Fund; and for each <br />commissioner to submit a list of possible budget changes to the county <br />auditor by September 3rd. Discussion: Mr. Montplaisir said he will prepare <br />the preliminary budget for publication and schedule a public hearing for <br />September 20th. He will include $10,000 in the budget for FirstLink. Mrs. <br />Sorum said additional budget hearings will need to be held in September to <br />discuss cuts.
