January 21, 2014
Cass County Water Resource District Managers
Cass County Township Chairmen
Cass County City Mayors
Subject: Flood Risk Reduction Projects
The purpose of this letter is to seek input on potential flood risk reduction
project funding assistance from the Cass County sales tax. If you have
previously made requests and your project is on the enclosed list, you do not
need to submit the information again, but should submit any updates. If you
have projects you would like the board to consider that have not been
previously submitted, please send your request by February 21, 2014.
In November, 2010, the voters of Cass County approved a ballot measure to
implement a 1/2 cent 20-year sales tax for flood risk reduction projects. The
intent of the sales tax will be to fund local costs associated with the Red River
Diversion and other flood risk reduction projects.
Enclosed is the policy regarding these funds. The following information would
be helpful to include in any new requests:
1. Project description
2. Point of contact for additional information
3. Estimated total project cost
4. Amount of county funding assistance requested for project
5. Other funding sources, if any, to be used on the project to supplement
county funds
6. Who will own and be responsible for maintenance of the project
7. Any other information you believe will be helpful in understanding and
evaluating your request
Questions may be directed to Keith Berndt, Cass County Administrator, at
(701) 241-5770.
Sincerely,
Ken Pawluk, Chairman
Cass County Commission
Enclosure
cc: City Auditors
Township Clerks
\MY DOCUMENTS\KEITH\FLOOD PROJECT SOLICITATION LETTER 2013.DOCX
