Commission Minutes—November 18, 2013 4232 <br /> PLANNING MEETING OF CASS COUNTY BOARD OF COMMISSIONERS <br /> NOVEMBER 18, 2013 <br /> 1. MEETING TO ORDER <br /> Commissioners met for a planning meeting at 4:10 PM on Monday, November 18, 2013, in <br /> the Commission Room at the Cass County Courthouse. Present were Ken Pawluk, Darrell <br /> Vanyo, Chad M. Peterson, Mary Scherling, and Vern Bennett. Also present were Keith <br /> Berndt, County Administrator; Michael Montplaisir, County Auditor; and Heather Worden, <br /> Administrative Assistant. <br /> 2. CHAIR AND VICE CHAIR NOMINATIONS <br /> Commissioners discussed the chairman and vice chairman positions. The names will be <br /> forwarded to the agenda for the first meeting in December, which is December 2, 2013. <br /> MOTION, passed <br /> Mrs. Scherling moved and Mr. Vanyo seconded to nominate Ken <br /> Pawluk, the current vice chairman, to serve as Cass County <br /> Commission Chairman for the term of December 2, 2013 through <br /> December 1, 2014, and to nominate Chad Peterson to serve as Cass <br /> County Commission Vice Chairman for the term of December 2, 2013 <br /> through December 1, 2014. Motion carried. <br /> 3. PORTFOLIOS, COMMITTEE APPOINTMENTS, MEETING DATES <br /> The board will take formal action at the first meeting in December regarding portfolios, <br /> committee/board appointments and meeting dates. <br /> Commissioners discussed portfolio assignments for the upcoming year. Mr. Pawluk was <br /> assigned the Administrative Services portfolio; Mrs. Scherling—Legal Services; Mr. <br /> Peterson—Human Services; Mr. Vanyo—Public Safety Services; and Mr. Bennett— <br /> Planning and Operations Services. <br /> There was discussion about other board and committee assignments, including outside <br /> agency representation. The only changes are as a result of portfolio assignments with Mr. <br /> Bennett serving on the Planning Commission and Mr. Peterson serving on the Board of <br /> Health. <br /> No changes were suggested for the regular board meetings or the rotational meetings with <br /> county department heads. <br /> 4.
