RELATIONSHIP OF PROJECT'S RECOMMENDATION TO PLAN GOALS AND FHWA PLANNING FACTORS Chapter 5 of the Plan documents the Plan's Goals and Objectives, as approved by the Metro COG Policy Board in December 2002. Provide Transportation Options and Choices Provide an Adequate Roadway System Provide a Safe Transportation System Preserve the Existing Transportation System Provide Adequate Roadways for Freight Movement and Better Connectivity to Intermodal Facilities Maintain Interjurisdictiona1 Transportation Planning Process Secure Adequate Project Funding VIA, VII A. Figure 11 below reflects the relationship between projects programmed by the Plan and the Plan's goal statement. It is evident that all goals have been addressed by the short and long- range program of projects. System Preservation 7, Environmental Quality Figure 12 prov ides an assessment of the Plan's recommended projects to FHW A seven planning factors, Again, it is evident the Plan's recommendations address and fulfill federal guidelines.
